A First Class First Graduate in Music with Gold Medal and National Scholarship from Rabindra Bharati University, West Bengal, Mrs. Ganguly did her M.A. in Music with First Class from the same University and Ph. D. in Musicology and D. Litt from Vocal Music Department and a Professor of Vocal Music Department of Rabindra Bharati University. She is now the Dean, Faculty of Fine Arts of her Alma Mater.

An ‘A-Grade’ artist of All India Radio in the fields of Nazrul Geeti and Shyama Sangeet, Dr.Ganguly has acted as a Judge a number of times in Student And Youth Festival organized by the Sports & Youth Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal, and also in the Music Competition held by the Rajya Sangeet Academy under the Information and Cultural Department of the Government of West Bengal.

Dr. Ganguly has to her credit a few cassettes which are very popular. Apart from acting as a playback singer in a few TV serials, she has participated in a number of public programmes in India at the invitation of the Governments of Assam, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. She has also performed at the invitation of the Bangladesh Government at Nazrul Academy, Dhaka, and at the private invitation in a number of cities in U.S.A.

As a social and cultural activist, Dr.Ganguly is associated with a number of social and cultural organisations in India. She is one of the Vice-Presidents of Indian National Forum of Art and Culture, a premier NGO devoted to promote and invigorate art and culture in the fields of music and dance ,painting and sculpture,literature,film and theater ,with its headquarter in Kolkata.
